We come into this world in a wave that breaks us free from the bubble we had been growing and developing in for 9 months.
The process is painful, as babies we had grown accustomed to ride the wave in our mother’s womb where we felt safe and nurtured. Then suddenly our wave breaks and we come out in shock and feeling cold. With time, we understand that our mother is still there and that we can now ride the waves of her loving arms as well as of those in our closed circle.
Soon we learn to walk and our first steps are wavy and hesitant until we learn to find balance.
The first time we see real waves in the sea is always unforgettable. We are maybe a bit fearful but excited. It is still too soon to learn how to ride the waves of life so we look behind at our parents seeking reassurance.
Then with baby steps it is time to step forward and explore.
During our lifetime the waves of life will brings us playful, happy moments but also warnings to be safe and enjoy the company of our loved ones while we still can.
Part of growing up is to realise that there will be times when our waves of life will feel like we are going in circles and have no way out. That we will keep riding the same waves over and over without being able to reach the shore.
But then one path opens and the waves of life can now roam free once more, you feel hopeful the shore is not far.
And yes there may be still losses and heartbreaks but believe me you can ride that wave. You can find strength in yourself and maybe with a helping hand here and there, you can succeed. The shore is just a step away.
And the older you get, hopefully you will realise the future is unknown, the present is now and that you should enjoy every happy moment. Ride those waves of life like there is no tomorrow. Take that trip now, make time for your loved ones, go on dates, dance, laugh, lay in the sun and feel its warmth. May the new year bring you all your heart needs and keep riding those waves but never lose sight of the shore. That is where your heart resides.
