I was thrilled when the editors of The World Atlas of Street Food reached out and invited me to contribute a piece on Central de Abasto in Mexico City, the biggest market in the world, and one of the most intense, fascinating places I’ve ever experienced.
They asked me to write about it and share my photos, capturing not just the food, but the people, the rhythm, and the life flowing through its endless corridors. It was an incredible chance to tell a story I care deeply about, in a publication that sees food the way I do, as a reflection of culture, resilience, and connection.
