Don’t you feel sometimes that life is a long Carnival parade ?
Most of us start life as a member of a clan. You didn’t choose it but there you are. Soon you will learn how to talk, dress and behave like them.
But then, the time will come when you realise you are also an individual who has his/her own thoughts and wants. Soon you will start wondering when you will be able to break free, be yourself and make your own decisions.
And when you finally get there, you will want to shout at the top of your lungs, look at me, I’ve made it!
And there will be moments when you will feel on top of the world, where anything is possible. When you will believe your wings will take you far and nobody will be able to stop you.
But there will be other times when you will be forced to come down to earth and face reality. You will feel exhausted and wonder if you will be able to go on. Or feel sad, lonely and although you will keep looking, there will be nobody there to watch your back and protect you.
So what to do? You follow through. There will be a time in the parade of life that you will again find your sense of humour and purpose. The clown in you will again see the bright and foolish side of life. You will put on your dancing shoes, wink at yourself and say “Go on, get out there!”
And then it won’t matter anymore how many years have passed, how your body has changed or how well you can still move.
The Carnival of life is still passing, smile and go catch it!
